A sandwich, or closed sandwich, is also known as a club sandwich.

There is either a legend or a historical fact of the origin of the sandwich, or rather a version of how the name of this dish appeared, because people wrapped food in bread in more ancient times. Once upon a time, several centuries ago, an English diplomat, the Earl of Sandwich, being an avid gambler, asked to serve him beef between two pieces of bread so that you could have a meal without interrupting the process games.

Over time, such sandwiches have become popular, and many recipes have appeared - from the very simple to the most sophisticated with expensive ingredients. However, the most popular is the ham, cheese and lettuce sandwich. Mayonnaise is a traditional spread for it, but you can make the dish a little healthier by replacing the mayonnaise sauce with a mixture of avocado and sour cream.

Ingredients:

Whole grain bread (sliced) - 8 pcs.

Salad (leaves) - 4 pcs.

Ham (sliced) - 8 pcs.

Cheese (sliced) - 8 pcs.

Tomato - 2 pcs.

Avocado - ½ pc.

Sour cream - 2 tablespoons

Lemon juice - ½ tsp.

Salt to taste

Ground black pepper - to taste

Step by step recipe:

1. Prepare food. You can take any ham. Instead of whole grain bread, regular toast bread is also suitable. However, each ingredient in this dish can be chosen according to your own taste.

2. Dry the slices of bread in a dry skillet or oven until crisp and let cool. In the meantime, prepare a spread: mash the avocado with a fork until puree, add lemon juice, sour cream, salt and pepper. Mix everything.

3. Cut the tomatoes across into thin slices. It is convenient to do this with a serrated knife. Place the tomato mugs on a sieve to drain the excess liquid.

4. For one sandwich, take two slices of toasted bread and spread the avocado and sour cream mixture on one side each.

5. Next, on each piece of bread, put a slice of cheese and set one of these pieces aside for now. And on the second, continue to "build" the layers of the sandwich: put the ham.

6. Next - a leaf of lettuce and a few slices of tomato.

7. Place another piece of ham on top.

8. Cover everything with a piece of bread and cheese that was set aside earlier and press the sandwich a little with your hand to the board so that the ingredients thicken and, as they say, "get to know".

9. The sandwich is ready, but you can serve it in the form in which it is customary to serve in clubs and in cafes: throughout cut the crust off the bread to make an even square, and then cut it diagonally. The result is a portion consisting of two triangular sandwiches - this is the classic type of dish.

10. Do the same for the remaining ingredients.

11. Now you can serve sandwiches to the table or wrap a portion with you. With such a snack, you can go to work, and to study, and to a picnic.

Homemade ham and cheese sandwich will satisfy your hunger, and besides, it is not only delicious, its bright layers and delights the eye.
