I was always looking for a way to preserve tomatoes for the whole winter, so that they taste and look as fresh. I tried everything... but somehow I came across this method. I doubted for a long time, but decided to do it. And you know, I liked it so much that now every year I harvest tomatoes like this. In winter I make a salad and no one believes that these are their own tomatoes…. Until I show you :) Try to prepare at least one kilogram of tomatoes this way.
I prepared a very short video recipe where I told and showed everything:
A step-by-step recipe for harvesting tomatoes for the winter with a photo:
First, you need to select the tomatoes. In this recipe, be sure to use hard, plump tomatoes.
Otherwise it will not work. I recommend picking pink and yellow tomatoes. It turns out especially tasty with them, but that's for my taste. See for yourself there. By the way, I didn't like the cream in this recipe.
My tomatoes are very good and I cut them into slices.
I remove the stalk. Like these ones:
I put it in banks. It is most convenient to use cans of 0.5 or 1 liter. I took it out and used it at once.
Required condition!Banks must be sterilized.
I pour cold boiled water into jars with tomatoes so that the tomatoes are completely covered with water and cover with lids. But I don’t twist!
Attention!Caps must also be sterilized.
Now the preparations with tomatoes need to be sterilized in order for them to be stored.
I take a large enamel pot. Another Soviet one. Grandma gave it to me :) I put a towel on the bottom, put the cans and fill it with water at room temperature.
The note!Water must be poured "up to the shoulders" of the banks.
I turn on the fire, bring to a boil and sterilize liter cans for 15 minutes, half liter for 10 minutes.
Then I take out the cans and screw on the lids.
Banks do not need to be turned over and wrapped in a towel. I just leave it on the table until it cools completely.
Then I put it away for storage. They stand very well just in an apartment, of course, if your home is not 28 degrees.
How do I use such tomatoes?
I open the jar, drain the water and put the tomatoes on a plate, sprinkle with fresh onions, herbs, sprinkle with fragrant sunflower oil, add some salt and eat! Guys, the taste is awesome!
Here is a salad of these tomatoes:
Of course - it's not just fresh tomatoes from the garden, but very worthy. The tomatoes themselves play a huge role in the taste. As I said, if you take soft tomatoes, you will get porridge. It won't taste good.
Tomatoes do not taste pickled at all, but rather fresh, but less aromatic. And not boiled straight. My guests did not believe me that these were their own tomatoes and from cans, until they brought it :)
Try one jar for yourself and decide whether you like them or not. I prefer to eat my own tomatoes in winter than store bought ones.
