Now, in Lent, I cook them constantly. But on other days, potato cakes are on our table, because they are tasty and inexpensive!
You can simply serve these cakes instead of bread.
You can wrap the filling in them - and you get a great snack!
You can fry in a pan.
Can be steamed.
You can bake in the oven.
Dough. I boil the potatoes in salted water.
I drain the water (not into the sink!). Then I prepare dough for pies from it. Mash the potatoes.
I add flour with baking powder, salt and vegetable oil. I knead the dough.
If it sticks, I add a little more flour. I roll out the cakes and fry them in a dry frying pan.
You can bake tortillas in the oven. At 180 degrees 10-15 minutes.
You can wrap the filling in such cakes (stewed cabbage, for example, or mushrooms fried with onions) and you will get a delicious full dinner!
RECIPE for potato dough:
• Potatoes - 350 g (weight of already peeled potatoes)
• Flour - 200 g
• Baking powder - 1 tsp.
• Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp.
• Salt
You can make pies from this dough. Roll out the same thinly, wrap the filling and bake in the oven or cook in a dry frying pan (under the lid).
