Today I want to tell you how I cook from ordinary onions very easy to prepare, but incredibly delicious pie in a pan.

I took note of this penny recipe back in my student days. When my wallet was almost empty, I bought a few onions and cooked lazy onion pie. I still bake it sometimes, and my family really like it.

Onion bitterness in it not felt at all, having tasted such a cake for the first time, you won't even immediately say that the main ingredient in it is onion! Doubt? Try it!

Ingredients for making onion pie:

Onions - 400 g
Chicken egg - 1 pc.
Cottage cheese (or cheese) - 60 g
Wheat flour - 120 g
Salt, spices, herbs - to taste
Vegetable oil (refined) - for frying.

We take 4-5 onions, not very large, and peel. And then just cut into small cubes. We transfer the chopped onion into a bowl in which it will be convenient to mix the future "dough", and squeeze it a little with our hands.

Add the egg and cottage cheese to the onion. If desired, cottage cheese can be replaced with any cheese, then it can be grated on a coarse grater. Mix everything well.

Then put in finely chopped greens (I had parsley and dill, but you can take one thing), spices (I took half a teaspoon of paprika and a little black pepper), salt to taste.

Next, sift the flour and mix. The consistency of the dough is quite thick.

Now we take a frying pan, no more than 24 cm in diameter, pour in a little vegetable oil, heat it up. And then we spread the entire onion mass, distribute it in an even layer. Cover the frying pan with a lid and cook the pie on the lowest heat for 10 minutes, until golden brown.

After 10 minutes, the cake must be turned over to the other side. To do this, take a flat plate of a suitable size, cover the cake, turn it over and again gently "push" the cake from the plate into the pan.

Cover the pan again with a lid and cook the cake for another 10 minutes.

Put the finished pie on a dish, cut into portions and serve. It turns out very tasty - you can't tell right away that the dish is made from 90% onions. The lazy onion pie tastes a bit like cutlets, although there is not a single gram of meat in it. Cook, taste, Bon appetit!
