Onion confiture - a simple recipe
- The onion should be cut into thin strips, if possible, it is better to use a special grater.
- Melt 100 g of butter in a frying pan.
- If you don't like the butter option, you can use vegetable oil.
- On low heat, stirring occasionally, bring the onion to a transparent state.
- There is no need to fry the onion, it should simmer in its own juice. Keep it warm.
- When the onion has become soft add white wine (this is optional) and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- You can add a few sprigs of thyme or whatever spices you like.
- When the wine has evaporated add sugar and raisins or figs.
- Let the onion simmer until fully cooked. He must acquire delicate caramel color.
- If the onion is not yet ready, and the liquid has all evaporated, you can add a little water.
- When the onions have become soft and tender, add balsamic (or red wine) vinegar.
- Mix everything well.
- Wait another 2-3 minutes for all the flavors to combine and that's it.
