Tried the vegan Snickers and compared it to the regular one. I share my impressions.
I was recently at a vegan product show. There was a lot of interesting stuff. But as a pastry chef, I was primarily interested in desserts.
Among other stands I came across a shop, where I saw an unusual dessert - "Snickers" in a bank. 3 years ago I tried to develop the theme of desserts in cans, but at that time I did not find a sufficient number of buyers and the project was canceled.
This "Snickers" interested me, and I decided to take bar jar for testing. Let's show you how it looks, and at the end of the article I will compare it with a regular snickers.
What does it look like
The packaging design is bright. The product “face” flaunts in front, but this is a snag. More precisely, this is just the kind of peanut bar we are used to, but in fact, the product looks different inside, but more on that later. Small jar. In addition to the image, there is a composition, I propose to study it.
What composition
The composition of the dessert is good. The dessert is made exclusively from plant-based products. The calorie content of the bar is high - 532 kcal / 100 grams. Which is not surprising: there are a lot of nuts in the composition.
What is inside
There are peanuts in the jar on top, drenched in some kind of sweet syrup. Looks pretty tasty. If you look at the jar from the side, you can see 3 layers of the bar. In order not to guess, I will try.
What a taste
Below is a layer of delicate peanut butter. Then there is a creamy caramel and on top of whole peanuts in something chocolate. Each layer individually tastes good, but scooping all the layers together makes it too greasy.
How much is
The cost of one such can weighing 90 grams is 225 rubles or 2500 rubles per kilogram. The price is quite high, but the ingredients are also good, they cannot be cheap. Now it's time to compare this vegan bar to a regular Snickers.
Snickers vs. Vegan Bar
The firstwhat surprised me is the high calorie content of the vegan dessert. In a regular Snickers, there are 502 kcal, but here it is 30 units more.
Second, which is very different - the price. The average price of an ordinary large Snickers is 70 rubles or 736 rubles per kilogram. A "bar" in a can costs almost 4 times more.
Third - convenience. Regular snickers are made in the form of a bar, which is convenient to eat on the go, and for "Snickers" in a can you need at least a spoon. It's time to take stock.
Outcomes
Despite the fact that the “bar” in the bank cannot be perceived as a substitute for Snickers, I liked it. As a dessert, it is wonderful. The portion is small, but even if you're worried about calories, you can always close the jar with a lid and finish eating later.
The most important thing about this dessert is that it really tastes good, which is a rarity for vegan sweets. The only negative is the price, I would like the dessert to be more affordable.
