Is there a difference between an expensive coffee shop cinnamon bun and a cheap one. I checked it and share my impressions.

Tried the cinnamon rolls at an expensive and cheap cafe. I tell you how much I paid and where it was tastier

Recently I was in a shopping center, where cafes with pastries were located opposite each other. One cafe is cheap - COFIX, where most of the items are sold at a fixed price.

Another expensive cafe is Cinnabon, which is famous for its cinnamon rolls. There are cafes of this network all over the world, and the name of buns in our country has already become a household name.

Both of these coffee shops have cinnamon rolls, only the prices are very different. I wondered if there were any other differences besides the cost. I decided to figure it out and bought a takeaway cinnamon bun to check it out in a calm home environment.

First, I suggest looking at what I bought, without reference to the price, and at the end, compare and understand whether the buns are worth their money.

What composition

Unfortunately, only the buns from Cinnabon could be found out about the composition. Here the composition is applied to the box in which the bun is placed. In general, the composition is not bad, with the exception of margarine.

Knowing how much it costs, I get the impression that the manufacturer is trying in every possible way to save on raw materials. The Cofix bun has no composition, but here it is already clear from the glaze that it is just sugar and there is no cream cheese in it.

How they look and how much they weigh

Both buns do not look very good after being delivered home. True, the bun from Cofix did not change at all, it was ugly even in the window. But Cinnabon looked much tastier and more appetizing on the window.

Cinnabon buns are almost 2 times larger, by the way, how much they weigh. The COFIX bun weighs 73 grams and the Cinnabon weighs 192 grams, respectively. That is, almost 3 times heavier. It's time to try and compare the taste.

What a taste

First I tried the Cofix bun. Already in appearance it is clear that she lay in the window for a long time. The dough is dry, the glaze has hardened and become "stone". The taste of cinnamon is almost not felt, it is not enough here.

The Cinnabon bun is fresh. The dough is soft, there is a lot of cinnamon in the filling, and the glaze is made on the basis of cream cheese. The bun is delicious even when cold, although the packaging recommends serving it hot. It's time to find out how much I paid for each of the buns.

How much are

A bun from Cofix cost me 60 rubles, there are almost all baked goods at this price. If we recalculate the price per kilogram, then the cost will be 821 rubles per kilogram, which is quite a lot.

I paid 230 rubles for a bun from Cinnabon. Which is almost 4 times more expensive. The cost for 1 kilogram of such buns is 1197 rubles. More expensive than Cofix by 376 rubles. It's time to take stock.

Outcomes

I am surprised that, when converted to cost per kilogram, the buns are not so far apart. But I am even more amazed that the buns at Cofix are so expensive and not tasty at all.

To be honest, the taste of the Cinnabon bun is also far from ideal. I also do not take into account that there is margarine in the composition. As for me, both buns are not worth their money, it is better to cook such at home.

By the way, I have a great video recipe for cinnamon rolls that you can eat in a post, I'll leave the video below.
