A marketing gimmick that makes many pay more for products of obscure quality

As an average Russian with a very limited income (this is not an insult, this is statement of fact) to foist average statistical products, breaking into them at all the average price?

If you open a "grocery boutique" you can burn out. Because for more than well-to-do products, different products are needed, and an ordinary person may not go to a “grocery boutique”. Because he will not feel very good there with his income.

But there is a way out. We need to arrange a fair! Exit, or a day off - what are they called there now?

For some reason, it is written in our subcortex - a fair is good, a fair is cheap, and also high quality. Probably because of the stories read in childhood about fairs, to which the surrounding people took everything they did with their own hands ...

This is not the first time I will write - I do not understand the insane popularity of these outlets. They are arranged both in Moscow and throughout Russia.

Moreover, what kind of advertising is on - farm (optionally - Belarusian or some other regional) products. Environmentally friendly, according to old recipes, blah-blah-blah... And at the end of this blah-blah-blah the price tag, which clearly exceeds the one that is hung on a similar product in the nearest chain store.

And they do!

People take these products with clearly inflated prices, continuing to whine how hard they live, how hard money is earned at the present time

They take it so that there are queues.

I once asked - why? What for? So my interlocutor did his big eyes, replied - at the fair everything is freshest, and of high quality, not that in all these "impoverished markets". So he said - the beggars of the markets.

By God, it became funny.

After all, the assortment of these fairs is not much different from the assortment of stores, and the "sources" of products are practically the same.

Take, for example, apples that glitter glossy, laid out in a beautiful slide. Is there a place in Russia and the surrounding area where apples have already ripened in April? I personally do not know about such a miracle. And apples - both in the store and at the fair - are imported, it comes out. This is a conclusion that suggests itself. Logic suggests it.

But no, in the store apples for a hundred rubles are disgusting, at a fair for two hundred they are exactly the same - freshly ecologically clean.

It's the same story with cucumber tomatoes. And with all the vegetables.

Not only with vegetables. With seafood and fish. Where will there be fresh sea fish and seafood at a fair in a city thousands of kilometers from the sea? Yes, from the same wholesaler who supplies all of this to the stores.

And meat, and sausages, and meat delicacies - all from the same place.

Moreover, it is still unknown how all this was stored and transported before it got to the beautiful fair counter.

I had a chance to visit a fair with the proud name “Belarusian Products” in a small provincial town. Settled almost in the open air, the wires from the refrigeration counters went to nearby buildings, a banner swaying over the fair depicting a cross between the Belarusian flag and the Belarusian ornament.

Assortment - smoked fish, meat delicacies, halva, red caviar in jars, sea bastards canned, chilled, God forgive me, octopus - probably straight from the Belarusian swamps delivered.

At an early time there were no buyers, and the saleswoman from the "meat" department melancholy wiped the sausages and delicacies with rags - first - soaked in water, then - in oil. Moreover, rare viewers were not at all shy

Let us omit that all this was clearly of Belarusian origin, of unknown quality, of an incomprehensible degree of preservation, as well as at prices higher than store prices.

After a couple of hours there was already a crowd. We bought it.

Belarusian, after all, good, freshest - the fair has arrived.

Shl. Be honest. buying into such... marketing gimmicks?
