This orange drink perfectly quenches thirst in the heat, and children love it.

Making orange juice at home is easy and very budget-friendly. If you are worried that the drink will taste bitter, then freeze citrus fruits before chopping. Such a trick will help remove bitterness from them. And most importantly, do not insist on the drink for more than 6 hours.
And as a sweet bonus, we will prepare a fragrant citrus jam.
Prepare this delicious and healthy orange juice for your family, it's very easy!

Ingredients:

  • orange - 4 pcs.
  • lemon - 2 pcs.
  • sugar - 350 g (1.5 tbsp.)
  • water - 4.5 l
  • sugar (for jam) - 350 g (1.5 tbsp.)

Step by step recipe

1. Wash oranges and lemons and cut them into pieces. Remove the bones.

2. Transfer the chopped oranges and lemons to a large saucepan. Pour 350 g of sugar here and pour 4.5 liters of boiled water at room temperature.


Stir everything until sugar dissolves and let it brew for about 6 hours, stirring occasionally. It is not worth insisting for more than 8 hours, as bitterness will appear.

3. After 6 hours, the juice must be filtered from the cake, we do this with gauze folded in 2 times.
Pour the finished juice into a jug, it is already completely ready for use. You can store this juice in the refrigerator for up to two days.

The juice is moderately sweet with a rich citrus flavor. Such juice is much more useful than store juice, since it does not undergo any heat treatment and all vitamins and nutrients are preserved in it.

4. And in order not to throw away the remnants of citrus fruits, we will make jam out of them.
Put the squeezed out leftovers in a separate saucepan. Add one and a half cups of sugar to the pan with the cake.

5. Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly so that the jam does not burn.

The jam turns out to be very tasty and aromatic. Such jam can be spread on bread and served with tea, and it can also be used as a filling for baked goods.
