I harvest dill in different ways. And I freeze it, and I prepare the "green" oil from it, and the sauce, and salt the dill, and dry it. Today I will tell you about my fastest way of harvesting greens (not only do I harvest dill this way). Yes, the method is not new. But, perhaps, it will be useful to someone))
In the video below, there are several ways to harvest dill for the winter. if you missed it - take a look, you will like it:
I wash the dill well and dry it. You can take several types of greens at once.
I put a paper towel on a plate (in two layers). If paper towels are not available, you can use a regular kitchen towel.
I spread the greens on the paper. I don't use the stems - they will go to my dill sauce.
I cover the greens on top with a paper towel (by the way, you don't need to do this). But I noticed that if you cover - the greens do not change color at all!
Now I put a plate of herbs in the microwave. At maximum power, I dry for about 5 minutes. Note, that the weight of the product is very small, so the instructions for some microwave ovens say that you need to put a small container of water next to it! We didn't play for the first time. It was an experiment and everything went fine.
But I do not recommend taking risks! Better to put some water! For example, I dry mint (near water):
You can also dry green onions (but it dries a little longer):
Here's what I got today. The dill is completely dry in 5 minutes! I crushed it with my hands (it crumbles easily) and put it in a dry jar.
The dill has not lost its color at all! Remained the same green! And very fragrant! I love dried dill in casseroles - it gives a special flavor to the dish. I also add it to marinades and cook mayonnaise with such dill (very tasty, by the way, it turns out, I recommend it).
Write, do you dry the greens?
