Yesterday for dinner I was preparing a salad of vegetables, and when it came to onions, I realized that it is very "hot". But this is not a problem for me, because I know how to soften its taste. I spied this method from a chef who works in a restaurant.
Everything is done very simply. Cut the onion into half rings, put in a bowl.
Now pour boiling water over it (there should be enough water so that the onion is completely covered), add a little sugar and wine vinegar.
I put sugar and vinegar on my eye depending on how much onion I have. Sugar per medium onion 1 teaspoon and 1.5 teaspoons of vinegar.
Mix and leave for 10 minutes. While you can chop the rest of the vegetables for the salad.
After such a marinade, the onion becomes crispy, bitterness disappears, and a soft sweetish aftertaste appears.
I not only add such an onion to a vegetable salad, but also serve it with a kebab, mixing it with herbs - it's very tasty, try it!
