An honest review from a pastry chef on cheap mango-flavored marshmallows.
Recently I was in the Verny supermarket and in the area with sweets I found a mango-flavored marshmallow. To be honest, I didn't expect to find a mango marshmallow in such a supermarket, so it immediately caught my attention.
But I was even more surprised by the cost of this marshmallow. I will not disclose now how much it cost, I will tell you about it at the end. First, let's show you what I bought.
What does it look like
The packaging of the marshmallow is bright, due to which it stands out well on the shelf among other sweets. Perhaps that is why I turned my attention to this marshmallow.
Above the packaging is the brand of the manufacturer "Pirozhnikoff". This is the first time I have seen this, so I cannot say either bad or good. And below there is an inscription “with a taste of mango”.
Moreover, MANGO is written in large, and “tastefully” - in small print. This is specially done to draw the attention of the buyer to MANGO, but the fact that the marshmallow is tasteful can be skipped.
But this is important because mango marshmallow and mango-flavored marshmallow are two different things. To check what kind of marshmallow is in front of me, I suggest taking a look at the composition.
What composition
The composition of this marshmallow is quite long. In general, marshmallows, even homemade ones, have many ingredients, so this is not surprising. The composition here is not bad, but there is a substitute for cocoa butter, however, it is not indicated what kind of substitute - and this is not good.
As for the mango, then here it is, consider that it is not. Mango juice is almost at the very end of the composition, which means that there is not much of it here. To give the marshmallow at least a mango flavor, they use a flavoring agent. It's time to give it a try.
What a taste
I didn't like the taste of this marshmallow. There is almost no taste of mango. If it were not for the flavor and yellow dye, the marshmallow would not be different from the classic one.
The texture is springy, but not very delicate in my opinion.
How much is
And now it's time to move on to the most important thing - the price. A package of this marshmallow (210 grams) cost me 69 rubles 99 kopecks. It turns out that one kilogram costs 333 rubles with a penny. In my opinion, this is a good and affordable price. It's time to take stock.
Outcomes
Despite the fact that this marshmallow was not as tasty as I expected, I liked it. To be precise, I liked its price, it is very affordable. And if you consider that the composition is not bad, then you can safely buy it.
