An honest review of IKEA chocolate bars, which at first glance seemed to me very similar to Snickers and Twix. I bought a couple of bars to test to find out if this is so.
When I visit IKEA, after the main shopping, I always go to the Swedish grocery store, which is located after the checkout. Most often I buy oatmeal cookies with chocolate, but the last time I discovered something new there.
Some of them are chocolate bars, which at first glance struck me as very similar to Snickers and Twix. I bought a couple of bars to test to find out if this is so.
How do they look
The packaging for the bars is made in the IKEA corporate style. Above you can see the "product face". Externally, the packaging is very different from the usual "Snickers" and "Twix", but the product itself is very similar. I wonder what the composition of these chocolates is.
What composition
I liked the composition of both bars. Snickers uses almonds instead of peanuts. At Twix, the sand base is made from oatmeal.
Both chocolates contain palm oil, but here it is used not as a substitute for cocoa butter (it is also included in the composition), but as ordinary vegetable oil.
I am neutral to palm oil, although, of course, I prefer to do without it. The most important thing is that here the manufacturer did not hide its presence under the phrase "vegetable oils", but honestly stated this. It's time to give it a try.
What a taste
I was worried that "Twix" with oatmeal would not be very tasty, but after tasting the experience was gone. The bar is really delicious. It resembles “Twix” only as a form factor, otherwise it is an independent product, and not its analogue.
But "Snickers" tasted very similar to the original. Of course, instead of peanuts, there are almonds, which have a more delicate taste, but, in my opinion, the similarity with the usual "Snickers" is close.
How much are
Both bars cost the same - 69 rubles per serving. True, the portions of the chocolates are different, “Twix” weighs 40 grams, which means that 1 kilogram will cost 1,725 rubles. "Snickers" weighs 45 grams, or 1,533 rubles per kilogram.
This struck me as odd because Snickers have more expensive ingredients than Twix. It's time to take stock.
Outcomes
I liked both bars. They have good composition and good taste. “Twix” from IKEA is not at all like the original, but “Snickers” has some similarities. I was surprised that an almond bar, if you count the prices in kilograms, is cheaper than an oat bar. But here, apparently, IKEA just decided not to bother and put a single price tag on both bars.
