An honest review of the Dragon Egg watermelon from VkusVilla.
The watermelon season is just beginning, and already all the counters are filled with watermelons of various types. Recently I was in VkusVilla and found an unusual watermelon there. The saleswoman said that this variety is called "Dragon's Egg" and she had already tried it and liked it very much.
I'm used to not trusting sellers too much, because their main goal is to sell, but nevertheless I decided to take such a watermelon for a sample. Even if you don't like it, it's not scary - I won't spend a lot of money on it, since the watermelon is small. Let's show you what it looks like.
What does it look like
The watermelon is really small and fits easily in my palm. Holding a Dragon Egg in your hands is a bit odd. But if it's no joke, then the berry in all other respects is similar to a watermelon. It's time to cut it open and find out what's inside the “egg”.
What's inside
The watermelon was cut easily and without the cod inherent in ripe watermelon. Inside was a pale yellow pulp with black bones. It feels like the watermelon is still immature, but perhaps it should be. It's time to try.
What a taste
After the tasting, it became clear that I got the watermelon unripe. In the very center, it has already ripened and has a sweet taste of watermelon, but at the edges it is a tasteless watery mass. There is a watermelon in this state, I got sick and had to throw it out. It's time to find out how much I paid for it.
How much is
This immature "Dragon Egg" cost me 129 rubles. A kilogram costs 160 rubles. And if we consider that about half of this watermelon is a peel, it turns out that we pay twice for the edible part. It's time to take stock.
Outcomes
I didn't like this watermelon. It costs much more than analogs. Even the Black Prince watermelon, which I think tastes best, costs less. I got an unripe fruit, so I couldn't really appreciate its taste. But I will definitely buy it again for trial, perhaps then my opinion will change.
