In the store of the supermarket chain "Magnet" the other day I saw in the section in baking goods a mixture for making bread at home. I sometimes bake bread at home myself and am the kind of housewife who prefer homemade cakes to those bought in the store (I am always confused by the compositions). But it became interesting and I took one package of wheat-rye mixture with herbs to sample
Moreover, the composition of the semi-finished product does not raise any questions, there are no additives with various "outlandish" names. See for yourself 👇
The mixture itself has a grayish color due to the presence of rye flour in it. From the instructions it follows that you only need to add yeast and water.
So I did, I added a package of dry yeast and 280 ml of water. True, this amount of water was not enough, the dough turned out to be very dense, so I had to add another 40 ml.
Next, you should leave the dough for 1 hour, but in order to speed up the process, I put it in the oven and turned on the mode for raising the dough.
As a result, after 30 minutes I took out the fluffy dough from the oven, which doubled.
I kneaded the dough a little and transferred it to a baking sheet and sent it back to the warm oven for another 15 minutes.
Then I sent the dough to bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 40 minutes.
What happened as a result?
The bread turned out to be rather loose, not very dense, came down wet with a rather weak aroma of herbs. If we talk about taste, then I would rate it at 3+ due to its too aggressive spicy taste. It felt like pepper was added to the dough, although it was not indicated in the composition.
I would not recommend this semi-finished product for purchase, because I know for sure that such bread can be made much tastier at home.
