Now I will tell you how to cut soft bread, a baguette or ciabatta so that the pieces are even and do not crumble. In general, I like to buy bread or a loaf that has already been cut into pieces. But not all bakery products are sold this way. And if I bake homemade bread, I still have to cut it.
And what a pity when fresh, fragrant bread crumples and crumbles, even if you cut it with a good sharp knife. But I know a way to avoid it. I tell you, and you take notes.
We take the most ordinary glass (you can use a jar), pour boiling water. Dip the knife blade into hot water and hold for 30-60 seconds. The knife should warm up well.
And now we immediately cut the bread. Surprisingly, it does not wrinkle, and there are almost no crumbs! But of course, a lot here depends on the bread itself and on the knife. If you haven't sharpened it for a long time, then no amount of hot water will help.
If you need to cut a lot of bread, then as soon as the knife cools down, reheat in hot water.
I have known this method for a long time, my grandmother did it. Then there was no trace of sliced loaves in the store, they always cut everything themselves.
