After every trip to IKEA, I find that in addition to the planned purchases, I bring home something else. Sometimes it's some small gizmos, but more often it's something edible from their grocery store.
This happened on my last trip. This time I bought some cloudberry jam. I wanted to try it for a long time, but the price of 599 rubles for a can of 425 grams stopped me. If we recalculate the price per kilogram, then it turns out 1409 rubles.
I always translate the cost of products in kilograms, so it is much easier to compare prices. To understand the order of prices for cloudberry jam, I checked how much it costs on the internet. On Yandex. In the market, the average price is 1340 rubles, you can check it yourself by clicking on the widget below. This means that the price at IKEA is not bad.
The jam jar looks very simple. The entire front side is filled with an image with cloudberries. By the way, have you noticed that all the names in IKEA are always in Swedish and English?
Thanks to this, I learned that cloudberry in English is CLOUDBERRY, which literally translates as “cloud berry”. Interesting, because it grows in swamps. Let's see, will the roster be in English too?
The composition, information about the importer and the manufacturer are indicated in Russian. Jam is prepared in Sweden especially for IKEA. The jam composition is very good. Do not be afraid of "eshek", they are harmless here: E440 is pectin, and E330 is citric acid. It's time to look inside the can.
Inside there is a jelly-like cloudberry jam, transparent, rather bright orange. The mass holds its shape well and does not spread, even if left for a long time at room temperature. It's time to try it.
The taste of the jam is what you need. I haven't eaten live cloudberries for a long time, but according to my memories, the taste of the jam is very similar. Only more concentrated, but it should be so, this is jam. But the presence of bones upset me.
Cloudberry seeds are much larger than those of raspberries and are quite hard. When they get on your teeth, they interfere with the taste of the jam. So I, like a real pervert, rubbed the jam through a sieve to get rid of the seeds.
For the sake of interest, I weighed the remaining bones, and it turned out that there are 83 grams of them in the jam, which is 116 rubles by the way. I would immediately remove the seeds from the jam, because it is much more pleasant to eat. It's time to take stock.
Despite the presence of seeds in the jam, I still really liked it. Cloudberries have a rather specific taste, but this is not felt in jam. In general, I was pleased with the purchase and do not regret the money spent.
Do you manage to return from IKEA without unnecessary purchases?
