By the end of December, money will not be at all good, and therefore we recall the good old Soviet New Year traditions and recipes.

Back to basics, so to speak. But according to new rules and with the addition of exquisite (21st century!), We prepare the salad "Under a fur coat"!

Salad "Under a fur coat" - what to take instead of herring and how to make it tastier

My experiments for the New Year's celebration continue - I am looking for ways to make something different, unusual and tasty from the traditional and familiar salad "Herring under a fur coat".

From my experience: herring can be replaced with any other fish.

For example, salted or smoked mackerel, lightly salted pink salmon and other types of salted or smoked fish. But preferably less bony.

I was very surprised by the salad with smoked capelin! Try it, you yourself will be stunned!

For any holiday I myself salt a red fish. Most often it is a budget pink salmon. Good for a sandwich or as a sliced ​​fish.

But "Fur coat" is something incredible with her!

Advice: if you are making a salad with red fish, then it is better to use green onions instead of onions or you need to fry a little onion in half rings - so in general, something is not earthly!

You can add olives (if you like), the salad will sparkle with new tastes and colors, will become the highlight of your feast.

About fish: Have you tried boiled or baked fish in this salad? And from canned food?

The result is always different, interesting and takes place when the salted herring is bored or you don't like it.

I know lovers of crab sticks who once took a chance and... instead of herring, they stuffed these sticks into the "Fur coat".

Now the festive salad is prepared only in this way and they are satisfied, they do not return to the traditional recipe.

The only thing is to add something salty to such a salad to set off the sweetish taste of crab sticks and beets.

For example, pickles, olives or boo caviar.

Salad "Under a fur coat" for vegans and fasting people - but what about without it ?!

There are a lot of recipes and options, who and how much when making herring under a fur coat without fish and eggs.

Sometimes it's interesting, like a salad with seaweed or an apple.

But more often this "veganism" comes to outright culinary insanity, when they hide under a layer of vegetable fur coat and "pink mayonnaise"... avocados, tofu, mangoes, oranges, pickled garlic, and even sautéed cabbage.

Although...

With fried and pickled mushrooms, very much even a vegan salad comes out, and with prunes and with nuts... Well, you understand me.

But with sauerkraut or Korean carrots (or with cheese?), Well, I don’t understand at all, how is that possible ?!

However, there are also fans of such a "Fur coat".

Conclusion: It's time to start your experiments in the kitchen in order to approach the New Year fully armed and find your best recipe for "Under a fur coat" salad!
