SSSRovskiy Vatsap. How we did without messengers 🤷‍♀️

The Internet is, of course, great. And applications with the ability to send instant messages (I don't like the word "instant messengers") are a wonderful thing.

But, you see, sometimes these "dead", albeit funny emoticons (by the way, why, not smiles, but emoticons?) so overwhelmed from all sides that I want to remember what joy the living letters and postcards of the times brought USSR.

🚩 Approx. the article uses photos of postcards from the personal archive 🚩

Yes, yes, I have postcards that my grandmother signed.

Well, let's go back to the USSR? 🚀

When I saw this postcard, for some reason I was sure that it depicts something related to the regions close to me in the Far East ⬇

This is one of the oldest cards in my archive - 1934. And you know as what is it called?

"Conversation of the Red Army with internees (disarmed on Soviet soil) White Chinese soldiers. "

Those times I didn't even know what the word internees made such a difference! Now we are all interned, but in a different sense ...

Happy Birthday.

There are almost all postcards from 1964 - 1968 ⬇

There were also just cards, not tied to the holidays, but carrying meaning.

Here right to spite of today's days - did you wash your hands?

And this not photo, and a postcard. There were also such ⬇

⬇ And these are postcards for telegrams. No, not for a modern messenger, which has an accent on the second letter Telegram. And for our Soviet telegrams, which were the fastest printed method of communication.

Who does not remember, or does not know: the price of a telegram depended on several factors: the region of delivery, urgency and the number of words.

If my memory serves me: "usual" - 3 kopecks / word, "urgent" - 5 kopecks / word, "lightning" - 10 kopecks / word.

Moreover, punctuation marks and prepositions were also considered as words. Therefore, more often they wrote without punctuation marks and prepositions, briefly and clearly: "CONGRATULATIONS ON THE HOLIDAY OF WHOLE MOM"

Urgent telegrams were delivered to the house or read over the phone.

Postcards were sent either with a stamped stamp, without an envelope, or in an envelope that cost 5 kopecks. The envelopes were also different: plain and Avia.

And how pleasant it was to run to the mailbox, which contained not flyers, but magazines and newspapers (for each family member - their own). And on the eve of the holidays or much later than the holidays: postcards, letters.
And also notifications about parcels and parcels. Not from online stores, but from relatives from the mainland.

Now you open Vatsap, social networks, an e-mail box and there are these ready-made pictures, postcards with someone else's text, a bunch of forwarded videos and reminders about birthdays and holidays ...

So, earlier all these reminders were in the head or in a notebook.
