I want to share with you our menu for the New Year's table. Already last night I started preparing - I did everything possible in advance.
So, to begin with, I want to explain that we will mainly have only appetizers and salads on the table. We don't like to overeat at night, so we don't have a hot dish.
We will have dinner on December 31st as usual in the evening. But exactly at the moment of meeting the new year at 12 at night, we have something light. If there were guests, they would cook something more satisfying, of course.
So, it took me a long time to choose which salads to cook, and we settled on the Caesar. This is our favorite salad, I don't know what could be tastier. My husband has a salad with chicken, I have a salad with salmon.
There will be "Olivier". You can shower me with slippers and say that he is already tired. But for me and my family "Olivier" is a symbol of the New Year. I cook it once a year, especially on New Year's holidays. This can be said already a tradition.
We also have more or less classic appetizers. There will be snack sandwiches with sprats. And also with curd cheese and lightly salted red fish.
From drinks we have juice. From fruits, grapes and tangerines (also a kind of symbol of the New Year for us).
For sweet, we have desserts from the local bakery - "Chocolate Pancho" with walnuts and pineapple. We don't like to buy cakes in the store, but we don't want to bake on December 31st, and there are so many things to do. So we have ready-made portioned desserts. We will most likely try them on January 1st.
Like this. To be honest, I don’t understand when a lot of things are prepared for the New Year's table and then overeat. Maybe for some people this is the norm, but for us it is not.
Write in the comments what are you preparing for the festive table? Are there family-friendly, traditional meals that you cook year after year?
