Sometimes our family wants pilaf not with meat, but something else. In such cases, I cook pilaf with mussels in a pan.
Mussels cook quickly, and rice does not take much time to cook, so pilaf can be completely cooked in just half an hour. By the way, while it is being prepared, I usually have time to prepare a vegetable salad as well. Be sure to try this pilaf, it is delicious!
Ingredients:
Rice
Mussels
Onion
Carrot
Spice
Salt
Garlic
Vegetable oil
To prepare this pilaf, we need 400-500 grams of mussels (meat). We defrost them at room temperature or transfer them from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator overnight.
Cut 1 onion into small cubes, chop one large carrot into strips and send to the pan. Fry a few minutes in vegetable oil, then add 3-4 chopped garlic cloves.
Next, you need to add salt and spices to taste. You can use any spices that you like. Personally, I add only ground black pepper and paprika to this pilaf with mussels, sometimes I also put turmeric. Fry vegetables for a couple of minutes, then add mussels and immediately 400 gr of rice.
For 2-3 minutes we fry everything together over high heat, stirring constantly so that nothing burns, and then pour in boiling water - add enough water so that it covers the rice by 1-1.3 cm. It takes me about 4 glasses.
Bring to a boil, cover the pan with a lid and cook over low heat for 30-35 minutes. Then open the lid, stir and simmer for another 5-10 minutes on the lowest heat (or on a cooling stove, if you have an electric one).
That's it, delicious pilaf with mussels is ready! You can serve it on the table with herbs, vegetable salad - very tasty and satisfying! Bon appetit, dear friends!
