I am sharing a new way of sterilizing jars for homemade preparations. We do not need steam, heat, or boiling water - we only need the most common soda.
I used to sterilize stock jars like my mother and grandmother with steam. We did this for a very long time, until we found other ways. One of them is "cold", I wrote about it recently. I will leave a link to the article at the end, who is interested - go ahead and read.
Another way is "warm". I'll tell you about him today. So, we take prepared cans, and the most common soda.
We moisten the cans with water, my water is the most common warm from the tap. And from the inside we wipe the cans with soda. We leave them in this form for 5-10 minutes, then just wash off the soda with cool water.
We turn the jars upside down on a towel so that the glass is water and they dry. Then we just put jam, salads, cucumbers, tomatoes and other blanks on these jars.
Believe it or not, none of the cans I sterilized with baking soda exploded or swollen, the contents did not deteriorate.
In general, I read somewhere that sterilization of cans is optional, because, for example, cucumbers and tomatoes are not sterilized, and our hands are far from sterile, then what was the point of suffering with these jars and sterilizing them. Maybe this is partly true, but I do not risk it and still sterilize.
This is my way. Most importantly, it is quick, simple and there is no danger of burning your hands.
Write in the comments how do you sterilize cans?
