Cookies that I definitely will not cook a second time (I tell you why)

Many people like it, but I will not cook it anymore.

A neighbor in the country shared the recipe with me. She said that the cookies are very tasty and she even buys cornflakes for him.

I tried.

First, I will show the recipe itself and then tell you about the result.

The recipe is simple, in fact (which attracted me). I separate the whites from the yolks (the yolks are not useful in this recipe).

Beat the whites until a firm foam. A mixer is needed here.

Now I add sugar, vanilla sugar and butter. The butter needs to be melted. And beat it all again with a mixer.

I don't know what I did wrong here. But I ended up with some kind of liquid mixture (although maybe this is how I need it?)

I add cornflakes to this mixture and mix.

I spread it with a spoon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

I put the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 120 degrees and bake for 40-50 minutes. During this time, the cookies are fully cooked.

It seems to be delicious. BUT...

What I didn't like:

  • too sweet and fatty (sugar is definitely not needed here and butter, or it is better not to add it at all, or at least halve its amount)
  • does not crunch (at all, even at the edges)
  • the raisins dried up a little and also became harsh (perhaps it spoils everything ...)
  • I, of course, did not buy cereals on purpose, and they were no longer the first freshness (perhaps this is why I didn’t like the cookies), but I don’t think that someone will specifically buy for this recipe flakes. I am sure that the recipe was invented in order to "save the overwhelmed" product, because if the cereals are fresh, it is better to eat them like that))
  • taste like cornflakes... (so why all these actions ...)

In general, I will not cook any more - that's for sure! If you don't like cornflakes, you won't like these cookies either. And if you love, eat the cereal like that, without any recipes there - it's much tastier))

If someone has made such a cookie, write your opinion. Maybe I'm not right. It might be worth changing the recipe a bit and trying again... Thanks in advance for your comments!
