Want to quickly cook something for dinner? Then, I offer you my own version of cooking "lazy" cabbage rolls - without rice.
Instead of rice, I use barley grits, "lazy" cabbage rolls are more tender, juicy and still tasty!
Cooking ingredients:
Minced meat - 500 g
Cabbage - 350-400 g
Barley groats (dry) - 100 g
Bulb onions - 1 pc.
Garlic - 2-3 cloves
Chicken egg - 1 pc.
Greens
Salt, spices, black pepper - this is to taste
For the sauce:
Sour cream 20% - 200 g
Tomato paste - 1 tbsp l.
Salt, black pepper
Hot water - 1/2 cup
We start by boiling barley groats - for this, it must be rinsed well, filled with water in a ratio of 1: 3, and put on fire. After boiling, add a little salt and cook the cereals over low heat for 7-10 minutes. Then we pour into a colander and let the water drain.
While the barley is boiling, chop the cabbage - it is better to chop less and not into strips. Add a little cabbage and press with your hands until softened.
We wait until the barley grits are cooked, cool down a little, then put it together with chopped cabbage in a bowl with minced meat. Add finely chopped onion, chopped garlic, chopped herbs, egg, salt and spices - based on your preferences (I added lemon pepper, sun-dried tomato flakes, smoked paprika and ground black pepper). Mix the minced meat.
We form oblong cabbage rolls from minced meat, like cutlets, put them in a suitable baking dish, greased with a little vegetable oil.
Preparing the sauce for the filling. Mix sour cream with tomato paste, add a little bit of salt, pepper and then pour in hot water.
Pour our "lazy" cabbage rolls with the prepared sauce. We close the form with cabbage rolls with foil and send them to bake in the oven, preheated to 190-200 degrees for 30 minutes. After half an hour, remove the foil, and bake for another 15 minutes.
"Lazy" cabbage rolls with barley are ready! I highly recommend you try this cooking option - it's delicious! Get ready, try, Bon appetit!
