In today's article I will tell you how I tested fruits bought in one of the popular grocery supermarkets for nitrates. Namely, I decided to check melon, orange, apple and banana. Now I'll show you what happened.
I decided to start with the largest fruit available - a melon. Plugging in the nitratometer, I pressed the "measurement" button and after a few seconds I saw a red circle with a value of 600 (mg / kg), at a rate of 90 (mg / kg)! To be honest, I did not expect to see such a value, since the excess from the norm was more than 6.5 times! Unfortunately, the repeated measurement was even worse - 850 (mg / kg). This melon is very unhealthy to eat.
After the melon, I decided to check out the orange. It belongs to the category of citrus fruits, which means that the norm of the content of nitrates is less than 30 (mg / kg.). My orange successfully passed the test (see photo)! The apple also did not disappoint,
the level of nitrates was normal and even with a large margin - less than 30 (mg / kg) at a rate of 90 (mg / kg).The last in line was the banana. Fruit nitrate levels was 130 (mg / kg.), while the norm was 200 (mg / kg.). Excellent result! Well, all the fruits that were bought can be eaten, of course, except for the melon. Write in the comments what products it would be interesting to check for nitrate content!
