The prices are wild. Places where I never buy groceries (and I don't advise you)

In almost every second publication about the high cost of products, the authors mention the "terrible" prices of such stores as Globus Gourmet, Azbuka Vkusa and all kinds of tiny shops of "pontovo food" with the prefix "eco", and at the same time - they ask why only rich people can afford to eat normally in our country, while the poor have a direct road to markets and fairs?

Hmm ...

Today I went through old folders with photographs and remembered that I had long wanted to write: it's time to stop believing that markets and fairs help save money.

No, well actually.

Today the fair is a way to deceive the working people, as they would say before.

Honestly, I have not seen such inflated prices anywhere else. And all right, these prices were for products of surprisingly high quality. Most often these are the same goods that can be bought in a store, but only by drawing a price tag, sellers are not letting their imagination run wild, no, but greed.

In 2017, cream honey was offered at the fair for 900-950 rubles.

And these are the prices for it in the store in 2020. I will not advertise the store, I opened the site of the first one that appeared in the search results.

Ostrich thigh fillet in 2017 - 485 rubles per package

In 2020 - 260 rubles

The same 2017 - hot smoked catfish for more than seven hundred rubles, I did not look for other names - sorry, laziness.

The price of hot smoked catfish is now - in 2020, in the first store that comes across

Octopus for a snack. Photo from one of the fairs in 2018

And the price of an octopus in 2020

Is the difference tangible?

And the price is so high - it is not for quality, not for freshness. It is because there is a fair, because people are fussy there, because there is an opportunity to get more expensive ...

I never buy anything at fairs because of such wild pricing. And I do not advise you (especially if a “Belarusian fair” with incomprehensible products at high prices comes to your city). Most of the supposedly “Belarusian products” were produced in no one knows where, and they even carry them all over the country (unless they were bought at the nearest optushka).
