A few months ago I wrote that I do not understand - why do we need a multicooker in our kitchen? The maximum that we cook in it is porridge. Then a mass of indignant commentators flew in, who, in the style of Fomenko, asserted:
- You do not like cats (crossed out) multicooker? You just don't know how to cook in them!
Multicooker was touted as an absolutely irreplaceable item - they say, they soar, and boil, and fry, and even bake, and most importantly, they save time.
Did not believe. But... self-isolation is about self-isolation, so that the most stupid thoughts come to mind, and the hands ask for the most insane experiments. And now the multicooker was pulled out of the far cabinet, and a recipe was found on the Internet for nothing less than an Easter cake baked without an oven.
I must say right away that the raisins were thrown out of the recipe for lack of availability at the time of the experiment.
The recipe itself looked like this:
- Flour - 600 grams
- Baked milk - 250 milliliters
- Yolks - 4 Pieces
- Butter - 130 grams
- Sugar - 150 grams
- Salt - 0.5 teaspoon
- Yeast - 1 sachet dry
- Vanilla sugar - 1 sachet
Sift the flour with yeast, grind the yolks with sugar, and then together with milk, melted butter, vanilla, salt - beat into a strong foam, add flour with yeast there, knead.
Put the dough in a bowl, leave it for several hours under a towel to rise, then put it in a greased multicooker bowl, put the heat for 10 minutes, and then bake for an hour and a half.
It seems like everything is really simple so far.
The dough at the initial stages of kneading as a result looked like this (sorry for the photos, on the phone and without preparation, but initially there was no thought to upload the experiment to the channel, and then... even thought, maybe to whom come in handy).
But the result let us down so much that I really didn't want to photograph the finished product. Bumpy top, very slight rise and burnt bottom. Everything is sad.
However, the taste of the middle turned out to be quite nothing, better than many purchased cakes, so the recipe itself is normal. You can eat.
Now about the errors that I figured out.
Firstly, the dough should not be laid out immediately in the thicket, but first spread with baking paper, at least. The bottom is better in a couple of layers. Heating in a multicooker comes directly from the sides of the bowl and the bottom, so you need to take some precautions, especially when baking for a long time.
Secondly, ten or even twenty minutes (I actually increased the time for the dough to come in the multicooker bowl), not enough for the dough to rise to the required volume and then not fall off.
Therefore, next time I will try to put it initially in a bowl prepared for baking. And then just send the cake to bake. I do not know what will happen, one of these days I will try again (most interesting)
Third, condensation. Condensation accumulates on the lid of the multicooker, albeit not in huge quantities, but it still accumulates, and drops of it can drip onto the top of the cake / cake. Something needs to be done with this, since this is another factor that prevents baking in a multicooker from rising.
Conclusion: I will certainly try again, but! The game is not worth the candle. Baking in a multicooker does not save time at all, a multicooker is only suitable if there is no oven or it bakes very badly.
