I know that for the mention of food sharing, sneakers will fly at me now - they say, we are not so impoverished to beg (although in Europe food sharing is considered very correct, environmentally friendly, and most importantly - a useful social phenomenon, and there is no shame in participating in it), nevertheless, I will start today's publication with him
If you run out of money in self-isolation mode, and there is no chance of earning, then... the first thing to do is look for food sharing groups in your city.
I had a chance to communicate with the organizers of such projects, so I decided to systematize the information I received from them a little.
Where to find the distribution?
Most often, such groups find shelter in social networks - because the food-saving movement, as it is called in civilized countries, is not very popular with us. And the legislation is such that it forces products with an expiring or expired date to be disposed of, and prohibits giving them to those in need.
The only thing is that food-sharing projects in Moscow that I have heard of are more charitable, that is, distribution of products goes to those in need, if you just do not want to spend money on food - you are not there place, sorry.
But in St. Petersburg, distribution is made at the discretion of food savers (those who collect food in cafes, bakeries, small shops that run the risk of violating our strict legislation in the disposal of products, and so Further). So many can seek help there.
By region, groups are most often relevant - in "Vkontakteka" or in "Odnoklassniki". There is rarely a centralized collection, but periodically there are ads from individuals willing to share the surplus.
Where does the food come from and what quality is it?
Anticipating the indignant stones, I will write right away - products do not take spoiled products. Very little food gets to them from shops, more - from mini bakeries, cafes, small shops.
For example, the delivery times of baked goods often do not coincide with the expiration dates, and if the food savers take the baked goods or something else five minutes after the store closes, this does not mean at all that they are taking something "Missing".
What can you take there?
Meat, meat products, sausages, chicken - you should not count on this. Such products are very risky - sometimes it is impossible to find out if they have deteriorated. Baking, vegetables, and even fruits - this gets to the "rescue" much more often. There are canned food (but very rarely).
All this, I repeat once again, does not get to food savers from garbage cans. Foodsharing is not equal to freeganization (movement, when food and other things are obtained from trash heaps), as I already wrote - food sharing is “saving food” that will be thrown away otherwise. This is for those who find it difficult psychologically to accept the idea that they will have to take something that we have given away (we usually have a thought in our heads, since we gave it away, it means guano).
It is worth looking for all this for the queries "I will give food for free", "food saving", "food sharing". I sincerely hope that this information will not be useful to anyone, but... Let it be. You never know what ...
