Recently, my friends were on vacation in Turkey and brought me a small gift. I always ask not to buy magnets or similar souvenirs for me. It's a pity to throw them away, it's still a gift, but it's impossible to adapt them to the case.
When I became a pastry chef, I found a way out of this problem, and now friends bring me local sweets or books with recipes. This time a friend wrote to me “Andrey, you will be delighted, you have hardly tried this”.
He interested me, so I tried to meet him as soon as possible. When we met, he handed me a box that was completely unremarkable. The friend did not remember the name, he says, the Turk babbled something unintelligible and said that it was the most delicious.
In addition to the image of the Valley of Love in Cappadocia (where the dessert was brought from), there is an inscription on the box that says that the product is natural. Other than that, no hints of what might be inside. All the more my desire to know what is there.
When I arrived home, I opened the package, and inside there are such triangles. At first I thought they were dough pies, but I was wrong. Before trying, I decided to familiarize myself with the composition, maybe it will help clarify the situation.
I examined the box several times and found no composition on it at all. It looks like you will have to try, not knowing what this dessert is made of.
Not knowing the composition, I first decided to unfold the triangular envelopes and see the filling. Most of all I was afraid that this was not a dessert, but inside there would be a filling of meat and onions. I do not like onions and I notice them, even if there is very little of it in the dish. But I was worried in vain.
The filling turned out to be very interesting - it is halva, apparently, tahini-peanut. Since I did not find anything dangerous, I will try.
At first I tried the “dough”, but it turned out to be not the dough at all, as I expected, but something like an apple marshmallow. His wife dubbed this “dough” a plastic churchkhela. It is difficult to say from what taste to taste, but definitely not apple juice. Most likely, it is made from white grape juice.
Layered churchkhela in combination with juicy halva gives an amazing taste. Hungry for more and more. It is a pity that there were only 8 pieces in the box.
To summarize, I want to thank my friend for such a delicious dessert. I really liked these triangles with halva, I would love to try to cook them myself. True, without knowing the name, it is not easy to do this. I tried to search the Internet for what it is called, but I couldn't find anything worthwhile. If you are suddenly familiar with this dessert, write what it is called.
