A simple apple sbiten recipe that's easy to make. I spend only 15 minutes on it.
As a young father, I often go out with my son. I really like these walks. While I am walking, I have time to think about many different things, for which there is usually not enough time. But with the arrival of autumn, walks began to bring less joy.
This is not an autumn blues, but a banal cold. And I seem to have dressed warmly, but I still return home frozen. After such walks, I like to drink something warming.
Sbiten became salvation for me. Previously, my wife and I often went for walks to neighboring cities. We visited local churches and brought sbiten from there. He used to stand in the far corner of the closet for months. And recently I tried it after another walk in the rain and I liked it so much that I drank the entire supply in a week.
I decided to try cooking sbiten myself. Let's tell you what I did.
Step-by-step recipe on how to cook apple sbiten
Ingredients:
- Water 1.5 l
- Apples 2 pcs
- Mint 2-3 sprigs
- Cardamom 5 pcs
- Cloves 4 pcs
- Fresh ginger 2-3 slices
- Cinnamon 1 stick
- Honey 2 tablespoons
- Lemon 2 slices
Apples are pre-washed. Then I peel, remove the core and cut into 1-1.5 cm cubes.
All ingredients, except honey and lemon, are sent to a saucepan and put on fire.
Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes over low heat.
At this stage, it is important not to boil the apples into dust, they must remain intact. If you see that the apples are boiling, you can remove them from the heat ahead of time.
I remove the pan from the heat, let it cool slightly and add honey. I squeeze the lemon slices and send them to the pan.
I stir and let it brew for 5 minutes under a closed lid.
Then I filter the sbiten through a sieve, and you can serve. Let's show what I did.
I put some boiled apple pieces into a cup, but this is not necessary, and then pour in hot sbitn. The drink turned out to be very spicy and well warming.
And to make the recipe as clear as possible, I made a video of the recipe.
