I saw this life hack in an American food show. One of its participants in a matter of minutes was able to bring butter from the refrigerator to room temperature. I was amazed at how easy it was to do it.
When I cook at home, I often forget to get the oil out of the refrigerator in advance and found my own method, which I already wrote about in the article about non-obvious life hacks.
I turn on an empty microwave for a couple of minutes, the air in it warms up, and then I put a creamy butter, cut into small cubes (if you want to know other life hacks, I will leave a link at the end articles). But, as the readers said, it is so easy to break the microwave, so the new method was a salvation for me.
Room temperature butter is required for whipping creams, making muffins, shortcrust pastries and other baked goods.
At first I thought that the method shown in the show was the magic of editing, so I decided to check it out at home.
How to quickly bring butter to room temperature
First I take out the butter and cut off the amount I need. For the experiment, I used about 50 grams.
I put it on a saucer. Meanwhile, I'm boiling water.
Pour boiling water into a glass with thick walls and leave it for 1-2 minutes. Instead of a glass, you can use a mug, jar, in general, any vessel. The thicker the walls, the more heat they will "absorb" into themselves.
I pour the water out of the glass and cover the piece of butter with it. I leave it for 2-3 minutes. After this time, the oil inside will become soft and can be used for cooking.
At first I doubted that the life hack would work, but it turned out that it really can be used.
