To find the perfect way to store bread, I tried different options and I want to share them in this article.
I used to have big problems storing bread. I have always tried to buy small portions and eat in 1-2 days. Otherwise, the purchased bread, no matter how I stored it, began to stale, and some varieties were generally covered with mold.
Self-baking bread was a salvation for me. Homemade bread is stored several times better than purchased one. It can also dry out, but at least it does not grow moldy.
So, what methods of storing bread have I tried.
1. In the bread box
A wooden or clay bread bin is the best place where my bread was stored well and for a long time. The secret is that clay and wood absorb moisture well from bread and then distribute it evenly.
But the breadbox in the kitchen takes up a lot of space, and I could not find the ideal option for the design of the new kitchen. The main disadvantage is that beautiful bread bins made from good materials are expensive.
2. In the package
Most of my friends are used to storing bread in the same bag in which they bought it. This is a good enough option if the bag has air holes. I don't really like this option, since the bread is unattended and constantly changes its place in the kitchen.
3. In a canvas bag or towel
Due to the fact that the fabric is breathable, bread is stored well in it. You can always pick up a beautiful bag that will delight the eye and, unlike a bread bin, is not expensive. But, as in the package, the bread will lie pretty unattended.
4. In a refrigerator
I gave up storing bread in the refrigerator after the first attempt. In it, the bread dried very quickly, and the crust became stale. This is due to the cold and air circulating in the refrigerator.
5. In the cake maker
Now I store bread in a cake bowl. Not because I like it, but simply because it is convenient for me. Now I try to bake enough bread for my family to have enough for 1-2 days. In this mode, bread can be stored as you like, it will not have time to deteriorate.
By the way, I haven't found the ideal way to store bread. Perhaps you found it - then share it in the comments.
