I recently bought a couple of desserts in a regular glass jar in a Moscow cafe. There was no time at that moment, so I decided to taste it at home. Later I studied the label and realized that the dessert itself is only 75 g in the jar. This means that 1 kg of Bird's milk dessert costs 4533 rubles.
When I realized this, I was dumbfounded. Moreover, they asked to return the dessert jar. In my opinion, the prices for these desserts (and I also bought “Medovik” in addition to “Bird's Milk”) are nowhere higher.
Moreover, these are not some complicated desserts, like “Mandarin” for 770 rubles (I recently posted a review on it), but the simplest desserts that can be prepared at home. Well, I propose to take a look at how these desserts look.
And desserts look extremely unpretentious. They are packed in regular glass jars, without any pretty labels. So to speak, in the style of "complete minimalism". In addition to the name of the dessert, the jar has the composition and date of manufacture.
I wonder what is the composition of such expensive desserts? The composition of both desserts is excellent. I would be surprised if it was different here, after all, this price allows you to use natural ingredients without any substitutes. Although for some reason the composition of the chocolate glaze was not indicated in Bird's milk, so I cannot say with complete certainty that there are no plant substitutes in it. It's time to take a look at what the desserts look like inside.
The dessert inside the jar is cut into small pieces. It all looks good, although the dessert in this form loses its visual beauty. But the most important thing about dessert is its taste, so let's try it.
The taste of desserts in cans is the most common. Although Bird's milk with Matcha tea should be different from the classic one. But the feeling is that they regretted the tea and it is not felt at all. The honey cake is delicious, but again there is no zest that you expect from an expensive dessert. It's time to summarize.
Both desserts turned out to be delicious and I would love to buy them again if not for their price. It is clearly too high here. The idea of desserts in cans is a good one, it is convenient to take it with you on the way to the office and not worry that it will turn into something shapeless in a bag.
Do you think this price for desserts is justified? If so, how?
