Once, one of the wise said, "We are what we eat." And this is actually so, because human health directly depends on what he eats, on the quality of the food. And people who have understood this truth and want to lead a healthy lifestyle, by all means, when buying products, read the composition.
And special attention should be paid here to food additives. Undoubtedly, if they did not pass special checks, their use in the food industry would not be allowed. But even officially approved E-supplements can negatively affect human health.
And therefore, it is better to know which ones should be minimized in your diet.
E102 or Tartrazine
It is a yellow synthetic dye. Such an additive is inexpensive, so it is used by many manufacturers to give a pleasant yellowness to food products. Often, Tartrazine is mixed with other dyes to give the components the desired shade.
This E-additive can be found in beverages, confectionery, purees, dried or canned vegetables and fruits.
The allowed rate is no more than 7.5 g per 1 kg of body weight per day. However, it can also lead to allergies, manifested in the form of skin rashes. In addition, some studies show that the inclusion of a substance in the diet of young children can lead to hyperactivity, decreased concentration.
E124 or Ponso
Another synthetic dye additive, but red in color. In addition to giving food the desired shade, E124 extends the shelf life, increases resistance to light and oxidants.
This additive is included in many sweets, canned foods, salad dressings. The permissible dose per 1 kg of an adult's eyelid is no more than 0.7 mg of ponso.
According to a number of scientists, regular consumption of foods containing this substance can lead to allergies and asthma, and if you buy baby products, in composition of which there is E124, this can lead to the development of hyperactivity and inattention, therefore, children's food products must be selected very carefully.
E211 or Sodium benzoate
One of the most talked about supplements. It is a compound of benzoic acid, is used as a preservative, and also improves the color characteristics of products.
It acts on products as an antibiotic on humans: prevents the development of bacteria, fungus, which automatically extends the shelf life You can find this substance in many foods, but most often it is added to mayonnaise, sauces, ketchup, some soft drinks, preserves and canned food.
The permissible rate of this supplement is no more than 5 g per day per kilogram of weight. But even consumption within the permissible limits can negatively affect the mental abilities of children. In addition, some researchers confirm that this substance, when it reacts with ascorbic acid, forms a carcinogenic mixture.
According to the findings of the research of scientist Peter Piper, benzene changes DNA in mitochondria, which can cause the development of dangerous pathologies: liver cirrhosis, Parkinson's disease.
E338 or Phosphoric acid
The additive, which has antioxidant properties, is used in the food industry as an acidifier, protecting food from oxidation and discoloration. Most of this substance is found in flavored drinks, for example, the well-known Coca-Cola.
Its main danger is its negative effect on the acid-base balance. Regular use of products with its presence in the composition leads to an increase in acidity. As a result, the body has to neutralize it using the calcium found in bones and teeth.
As a result, there is an increased risk of tooth decay and osteoporosis, especially in children who drink these drinks frequently.
E223 or sodium pyrosulfite
A preservative additive that is sold as a white powder. It is used to extend the shelf life of products, slow down oxidative processes. Usually E223 is added to fruit juices, wines, marshmallows, jam, marmalade, semi-finished products from potatoes, fruits and berries.
The constant ingestion of this additive into the body can lead to the development of allergies and gastrointestinal diseases.
Dosing of food additives
Now you know that for each "E-shech" the maximum allowable dose per day has been determined. But the problem is that very few food manufacturers indicate a specific content of substances in the composition of products. Therefore, it is impossible to know the exact amount of additives.
But there is one trick that you need to know: manufacturers have a rule to distribute the ingredients that make up the composition, descending, that is, the substance that is contained in the maximum concentration is indicated first and further along decreasing.
It is clear that you cannot completely get rid of additives in your diet, and not all of them are as dangerous as we often think, but it is still worth reducing the consumption of foods where they are contained, especially in children, whose body can react to them more violently.
