Yeast dough pie with poppy seeds

A simple yeast dough pie with poppy filling will not be easy if you approach the cooking process creatively. In such a "artistic" design, it will surely cause special emotions of admiration, delight and surprise among households and guests and will undoubtedly decorate the festive table and everyday get-togethers. It is not difficult to prepare it, but a portion of compliments from tasters will definitely be provided and more than one.

To create such a poppy flower, any yeast dough suitable for making pies will do. Usually, everyone has their own proven recipe with a secret in their piggy bank, but if not, then you can use the options presented - on curd whey or milk.

Ingredients:

Yeast dough - 700 g

Poppy - 100 g

Sour cream - 4 tbsp. l.

Wheat flour - 2 tbsp. l.

Sugar - 4 tbsp. l.

Chicken egg - 1 pc.

Preparation:

Step 1: Prepare the required ingredients.

Step 2: In a heat-resistant container (saucepan, stewpan, bowl), mix granulated sugar, poppy seeds and sour cream. Bring, stirring occasionally, to a boil.

Step 3: Reduce heat to below average and, while continuing to stir, so that the poppy does not burn to the dishes, cook until thick. Cool the resulting gruel to room temperature.

Step 4: Beat the chicken egg with a whisk until smooth. Stir in sifted wheat flour to avoid lumps. Combine both masses (egg and poppy) together, mixing very thoroughly until smooth.

Step 5: Divide the prepared yeast dough into 5 equal parts. Each of them must be sequentially rolled into a thin layer (diameter 25-27 cm). After rolling, fold them one after the other on a sheet of parchment, cut to the size of the baking sheet, applying evenly ¼ part of the filling between them. Each next laid out layer is carefully fastened in a circle with the previous one.

Step 6: Carefully connect the final fifth layer along the edge with the first layer. Cut the resulting workpiece with wedges, making 16 equal through cuts according to the principle of the sun, without cutting to the middle (see. on the picture).

Step 7: Two adjacent wedges must be simultaneously carefully turned outward from each other, making three turns of 180 degrees, and connecting their ends together. Do the same with the rest of the pairs. You should get a flower with 8 petals. Transfer the paper with the blank to a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 190 degrees. Bake the cake in it until golden brown and dry splinters. The baking time depends on the characteristics of the oven (approx. 20–35 minutes).

Step 8: Cool the finished pie on a baking sheet for 15–20 minutes, covering with a towel. Carefully remove the paper and serve with tea, coffee or milk drinks.
