Mackerel is a very tasty, fatty and healthy fish, which has long become a frequent guest on our not only dinner but also festive tables. As soon as it is not cooked, it is fried, boiled, baked, stuffed. Today we will prepare a portioned roll of this beloved fish. It is prepared very simply and quickly enough, from the very minimum amount of products, but don't let that confuse you. The appearance of the fish roll is very attractive, and its taste will delight even the most demanding gourmet.
Ingredients:
Mackerel - 400 g
Bacon - 40 g
Salt to taste
Ch.m. pepper - taste
Preparation:
1. Prepare all food. Buy fish for this recipe whole, with intact, smooth and even skin. If the skin is dry and cracked, it is likely that the fish has thawed several times. Bacon works best when sliced and will stick well to fish fillets. Defrost the mackerel beforehand, cut off the head, clean it carefully from the insides, remove the black film inside the abdomen.
2. Cut the fish from the top along the fin, carefully cut the fillets from the ridge. Remove the ridge itself near the tail, the tail should remain. Remove all bones. Season the fillet with salt and pepper, inside and out.
3. Place thin slices of uncooked bacon over the fish fillet.
4. Now the mackerel needs to be rolled into a roll. We start from head to tail, first in one direction, then from tail to head in the other direction.
5. The fish roll must be fastened with several wooden skewers, otherwise it will not hold its shape. We heat the oven to 180 degrees, transfer the workpiece to an iron or ceramic baking dish, put it in the oven and bake for 30 minutes in the top and bottom heating mode. Five minutes before the end of cooking, you can turn on the convection or the top grill and let the dish acquire a golden brown crust.
Serve Baked Mackerel and Bacon Roll with fresh vegetables or homemade pickles. From side dishes it will be delicious with mashed potatoes or boiled rice.
Enjoy!
