Pea soup with meatballs can easily compete with other meat first courses. It is prepared from the simplest and most affordable products, but at the same time it turns out to be satisfying and tasty. Therefore, do not forget to include it in our menu more often. Even cooked with meatballs, it is low in calories. Perhaps the only drawback of making this soup is the long process of soaking and boiling the peas themselves.

Ingredients:

Potatoes - 600 gr.

Minced meat - 300 gr.

Peas - 1 cup

Water - 1.5 liters.

Carrots - 1 pc.

Bulb onion - 1 pc.

Green onions - to taste

Vegetable oil - 50 ml.

Salt to taste

Step by step recipe:

Step 1 - Prepare the required ingredients according to the list. Minced meat can be taken from pork, beef, chicken or mixed. I took crushed peas.

Step 2 - Soak the peas in the evening or for at least 5-6 hours. To do this, we sort out a glass of legumes, rinse and fill with cold water.

Step 3 - After the required time, we wash the peas, fill them with water. We put the pan on fire, bring to a boil.

Step 4 - When boiling, remove the foam and reduce the heat to minimum. Cook for about an hour. If you need heavily boiled peas in soup, increase the cooking time to 1.5 hours or more.

Step 5 - While it's cooking, prepare the rest of the ingredients. For meatballs, add onions grated or minced in a meat grinder to the minced meat, and salt.

Step 6 - Form small meatballs by beating the minced meat between your palms and wet your hands with water.

Step 7 - Now we prepare the vegetables for the soup. My potatoes, peel and cut into large slices. Then clean the onion with carrots. Chop the onion into cubes, three carrots on a coarse grater or cut into small strips with a knife. Heat oil or lard in a pan, fry vegetables over low heat, not forgetting to stir, until the onion is translucent.

Step 8 - After an hour of boiling the peas, send the potatoes to the pot. Salt the soup.

Step 9 - After boiling the broth, lay the minced meatballs, fry the vegetables and cook the dish until the potatoes are ready.

Step 10 - Before removing from heat, taste with salt, add salt if necessary.

Step 11- When serving, sprinkle the first course with finely chopped green onion feathers.
