Barley groats should periodically be included in the diet of every person, it is especially useful for children. Porridge from it is delicious not only with meat and gravy. It can also be prepared in milk and served as a stand-alone dish.

The taste of such porridge is significantly different from that which is cooked on a water basis. Milk makes it softer and more tender, it seems to melt in your mouth. By the way, barley porridge with milk can be both salty and sweet, depending on personal preference.

This dish is best prepared for breakfast. It will keep you full until lunchtime without snacks. At the same time, your body will receive the necessary carbohydrates, and therefore energy for the whole day.

Ingredients:

Barley groats - 100 gr.

Milk - 300 ml.

Water - 150 ml.

Sugar - 2 tablespoons

Butter - 20 gr.

Salt to taste

Prepare food.

Rinse the groats several times with warm water, constantly draining the cloudy liquid and achieving complete transparency. This will not only get rid of impurities, but also shorten the cooking time, and also improve the taste.

Pour the washed cereals into a saucepan, fill with water, set on fire. Choose a container with a thick bottom and walls.

After boiling, lightly salt the water, remove the foam from the top. Reduce fire to minimum. Cook the porridge for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly with a spoon, since the barley grits can stick to the bottom of the container.

When all the water is completely absorbed into the cereal, start gradually pouring in the milk. It shouldn't be cold, so preheat it.

Next, cook the porridge in milk. Keep the fire low, keep stirring constantly with a spoon, do not cover. The approximate cooking time is 25 minutes.

Towards the end of the process, add sugar and stir.

Put the porridge off the heat, cover with a lid, let it stand for 15 minutes, so that the milk is completely absorbed, and it becomes thicker. At this point add oil, stir.
