Porridge is one of the main dishes of Russian cuisine. In the old days, all the dishes that were cooked from chopped products were considered porridge. They could be from rusks, peas, fish, carrots. In addition, this dish was always prepared for any important event: for the birth and baptism of a child, for a funeral, for Christmas and Christmastide, for a wedding.

Wheat porridge used to be one of the most popular, and the best and tastiest was the one that was cooked from a special cereal called semolina. However, at that time it was expensive, so only very wealthy people could afford such a dish.

In our time, porridge has not lost its popularity. Almost every housewife prepares it for breakfast, it is an integral part of baby food. Now everything is much simpler: there are now many options for wheat groats (this is semolina, millet, bulgur, and whole grain wheat). Technique also comes to our aid: cooking porridge in a slow cooker is a real pleasure! Nothing burns, does not "run away", in the evening you can add all the products to the bowl, and in the morning you can get a ready-made dish.

To cook wheat porridge in milk in a slow cooker, prepare all the products. Sort out the groats, remove excess debris, rinse several times under running water until it is transparent. You can use any version of wheat, I have bulgur.

I recommend taking milk of medium fat content - 2.5%. For a lighter version, you can dilute it in half with water, for a hearty and rich version, cook with 10% cream. Traditional oil - 82.5%.

Add butter. Turn on the "Milk porridge" mode. Cooking times will vary depending on which wheat you use. Bulgur, semolina are traditionally boiled for about 15 minutes, if you have a whole grain cereal, then the time period will need to be increased to 40 minutes.

Bon Appetit!

Serve the porridge right away, hot! For children, I recommend making a more dessert version: with berries, fruits and cookies. For adults - with butter. This dish is sure to please everyone!
