Do you not smoke and, even more, try to move away from those who have such an unpleasant habit, because you do not want to be a passive smoker? But it is important to remember that nicotine, which becomes the cause of addiction, is contained not only in cigarettes! Surprisingly, some foods (recognized as beneficial due to their rich composition) also contain this substance.
So, the first studies on the content of nicotine in products were carried out in 1993 by scientists from the University of Michigan. It was they who first discovered that many foods and drinks that regularly come to our table contain this substance, and in large enough quantities.
The foods listed above, according to some doctors, should be included in your diet if you want to quit smoking - they will help you to more easily endure cravings. But besides them, it is worth replenishing the diet with other products that will accelerate the cleansing and recovery of the body.
So, most often they mention eggplant - in 1 g of this vegetable - 100 ng / g of nicotine. The same amount enters the human body when it is in a smoky room for 2.5-3 hours. One cigarette contains about 1 mg of nicotine, that is, a person needs to eat about 10 kg of vegetables to reach this figure.
What other vegetables can nicotine be found in?
But eggplant is not the only "nicotine" vegetable. You will be surprised where else this substance may be contained.
Cauliflower
1 g of product contains almost 70 ng / g of nicotine. Our body receives the same amount if we spend 1 hour in a room with a smoker. In addition, some scientists claim that cauliflower contains even more nicotine (almost 4 times) than previously thought, but there is no exact information yet.
Potatoes
This root vegetable is another source of nicotine. And its pulp is practically a "champion" in this: in 1 gram of root vegetables there are almost 15.3 ng / g of nicotine. A person needs to eat about 65 g of potatoes to achieve the "passive smoker" effect. But nicotine is also contained in the peel, but in smaller quantities - about 4.8 ng / g of nicotine. But since few people use the peel, you should not worry.
Green tomatoes
Another leader in terms of the amount of this substance in the composition - it contains 42.8 ng / g. It is enough to eat only 25 g of the product to become a “passive smoker”. Ripe tomatoes contain much less nicotine - almost 10 times. But surprisingly, tomato puree contains even more of this substance than green tomatoes - almost 52 ng / g. The consumption of 20 g of the product is equivalent to smoking one cigarette.
Capsicum
It also contains nicotine. True, the amount in it is minimal - only 8 ng / g, which is considered a low indicator.
As we said, using these products can reduce your cravings for smoking, which means it will be easier for you to get rid of the addiction. But it is also worth enriching your diet with another important drink that will accelerate the elimination of toxins from the body and its recovery. This is tea, green is better, but black will also be effective, since it also has a small the amount of nicotine (however, for the product to have a negative effect, you will have to drink tea every day liters).
But it contains a lot of useful substances that will help the body to more easily endure the period of quitting cigarettes.
There is no need to be afraid to consume such foods, because in order for their negative effect to appear, you need to eat them in huge quantities. In addition, they, on the contrary, will help you to get rid of cravings if you decide to break the habit.
