Oatmeal - Shredded oats. Classic cereals are cooked for about half an hour, you do not need to cook "quick" porridge. Moreover, in the latter case, the flakes are thin, small, there are no scales in them.
Many people do not know whether to wash this porridge before starting to cook it. Most often not, but sometimes it's worth thinking about.
Why you shouldn't wash your oatmeal
People are very suspicious - and for some, even cereals cause concern - where they were, is there dust, why is the water in a pot of oatmeal so muddy?
But dust is a valuable flour.
After the flakes are flooded with water, it simply floats upward, which makes the mixture cloudy. But it is this flour, which is the source of gluten, that allows us to end up with an enveloping mass - it protects our digestive tract from erosion.
Since it is this flour that makes oatmeal so beneficial, you should not rinse it - you will just wash away all the benefits. Moreover, in stores you can find expensive cereals that do not have such "powder". After cooking, the porridge comes out with a very texture, not viscous, but there is very little benefit in it.
And to make the porridge even more useful, before cooking, you should soak the flakes in water for a couple of minutes and only then boil in the same liquid. This will release the maximum amount of gluten.
How to remove scales?
And if everything is clear with flour, then what about the scales that float in the porridge? According to nutritionists, they are very beneficial for our intestines, as they cleanse the body and help remove toxins.
True, such scales, to be honest, interfere with the normal use of porridge: they get stuck in the teeth, which reduces the palatability of the porridge. But even here it is not necessary to wash the flakes - it is enough to fill them with water and use a slotted spoon to collect the floating flakes.
In what cases can cereals be washed?
If you want to make a dessert out of flakes or use them as a breakfast cereal, then, of course, it is better to get rid of flour - it is it that makes the consistency of the porridge heterogeneous, reminiscent of jelly. Only in this case can the oatmeal be washed, and only then boiled and added berries or honey to taste.
