I have always been an optimist and believed in the best. In the senior years of study at the University, I began to think about permanent work. I found an ad on the Internet. It said that a cafe had recently opened in a shopping center on the main street of our city. It was embarrassing to go alone, and I took my younger sister with me.
She is brave and had experience working in a cafe on the sea. After the interview, we were both invited to work. The sister, however, changed her mind. And I got a job as a hostess, or an administrator. This is how my career in catering began.
Why our waiters were better than the rest
The place where I got a job was unusual. Its owners turned out to be modern and original people. The manager was invited from Moscow, the waiters were selected especially carefully, because they had to... dance.
Yes. This place has become the favorite cafe for many residents of the city of all ages. The interior was decorated in chocolate colors, comfortable sofas, armchairs and everywhere bright letters with the name of the cafe. Guests came from the very first minutes of the opening, drank coffee, had breakfast, and had a good time. And at some point, the music that was playing in the background in the cafe fell silent.
The lovely waitresses took their eyes off their trays and stood in the center of the room. The bartender played a bright melody and the dance began. Girls in hot pink skirts-shorts and white T-shirts with glowing eyes and charming smiles gave the guests a cheerful dance that lifted the mood and surprised. The girls did not attend any special courses. they just loved their job, and even more, they seemed to enjoy dancing.
Their love and passion were passed on to guests who became spectators. There was a feeling that you were not in the capital city of one of the southern regions, but somewhere in Europe. Everything was top notch.
The manager's charming wife, a lithe woman of short stature, gave the girls-waitresses rooms. The guests were very fond of when the minutes of silence came and the wonderful employees of the hall found themselves at... the bar counter. The incredible performance lasted for several minutes, but always caused a sea of admiration from the visitors.
Fun activities that visitors loved so much
The owners of the establishment tried to spend every holiday in a special way for their guests. On Valentine's Day, in the city's brightest cafe, loving couples joined their hearts at a comic wedding ceremony, with an exchange of rings and the signing of a marriage certificate. Even among our employees, happy alliances have been formed. The atmosphere of happiness and love reigned in the cafe all day.
Our girls brightly congratulated all the men who came to the institution on February 23. The first half of the day was held in a festive mode and military paraphernalia. I was wearing a camouflage suit, letting the guests know that today is a special day. And in the evening, a defile of our beautiful employees took place for the adult audience. Cheerful dances, congratulations and lots of attention - everything belonged to men.
On March 8, I greeted guests in the form of Marilyn Monroe. The festive program was dedicated to the beautiful half of humanity. And again, each guest received maximum attention in a cozy, festive atmosphere.
All the holidays were bright and unforgettable. The guests did not miss the opportunity to celebrate the Scary Halloween in our cafe. The evening performance consisted of incendiary dances of the waitresses and especially terrible experiments of a terrible sorceress in my face, because I studied at the chemistry department.
Difficulties. No way without them
Working in this cafe gave me a rich experience, many interesting moments and wonderful acquaintances. I did not belong either to the staff who serve the hall, or to those who prepare for the guests. I was everywhere, communicated with everyone and tried to create the most pleasant stay for each guest, as far as I could.
My very first boss was the hall manager, after some time I had the opportunity to work in this position. And here everything turned out to be not as simple as I thought before. Having no experience as a waiter, it was difficult for me to give advice to girls. Or rather, of course, it would be like this: it was not difficult to give advice, it was difficult to achieve their implementation.
I was not an authority for them. Or maybe someone just wanted this position or there was a hidden resentment. In short, it was sometimes very difficult for us to find a common language. I will never forget one of the brightest conflicts that happened between me, the waitress and our bartender. The staff from the audience knew almost all of our guests, knew their tastes and tried to please.
It happened this time too. The guest ordered a drink, and the bartender did something special for the visitor. The waitress was busy and I took the order. But it so happened that the girl who served this table considered the bartender's act wrong. She demanded to fulfill the guest's order, and I stood up for this guy. The waitress turned around and left. A full hall of guests, it will not be easy for the girls if one of them leaves.
And I had to persuade the waitress to come back. She is a very pleasant girl, with a strong character and extensive experience in the gym. I apologized, explained my position and... understood it. Yes, this is a special world, with its own rules and relationships. And here we must be able to retreat, be able to scold, be able to forgive.
But the most important thing is to remain human under any circumstances. We buried the hatchets.
And then we opened another cafe in another shopping center and I was transferred there as a manager. I was young enough, the staff were older than me, and some were just more insolent. It was not easy, but with the manifestation of character, everything suddenly fell into place.
New Year's corporate party and dismissal
The corporate New Year was unforgettable for all employees of our cafe. The cheerful team celebrated the Pirate New Year, congratulated each other and had a great time. It's time to write my diploma and I left the cafe. Now I remember all this with a smile, but then I experienced some strange relief. Apparently, at that time I was not ready to lead the team.
But I am grateful to fate for this experience and for those people who, after a year of our joint work, will forever remain in my heart.
