"Herring under a fur coat" is a popular and beloved salad. Not a single New Year holiday is complete without it. This is due to the budgetary ingredients and ease of preparation, in addition, the salad has a beneficial effect on the stomach during food excesses.
Often, herring under a fur coat is simply cooked in “basins,” but today I offer portioned serving using a culinary ring. If you do not have such a device, then simply cut it out of a plastic bottle of a suitable diameter.
The composition of the ingredients of the salad is also not a constant value - the proportions and products can vary, only the presence of herring and beets in addition to a good (better homemade) mayonnaise is invariable.
Ingredients:
- Lightly salted herring - 60 g
- Boiled beets - 60 g
- Salad onion - 20 g
- Boiled carrots - 40 g
- Boiled potatoes - 40 g
- Mayonnaise - 50 g
- Green onions to taste
Take the food you need. Cook the vegetables in advance.
Real chefs prefer small salad cuts over graters. Cut the peeled vegetables into very small cubes: beets, carrots, potatoes.
Pour the salad onions, chopped in the same finely, with boiling water for 3 minutes or lightly marinate in a weak vinegar solution. Place on a sieve.
Strain the herring from the filling and chop finely too.
Let's start assembling. The first layer - especially if you are making a salad in a large salad bowl (as Ilya Lazerson points out) - put potatoes. In this case, the herring lying on it will not be lost when you take a portion on your plate. Each layer is coated with mayonnaise.
The next component is herring. Lay it out, coat and lightly seal with a fork.
It is logical to send onions to fish.
Coat with mayonnaise.
Then the turn of the carrots. Further - mayonnaise again.
The construction is completed by beets.
It will color the mayonnaise layer in a pleasant pink color. Refrigerate the salad for the time allowed.
Before serving, carefully remove the ring and decorate the "Fur coat" at your discretion.
You can sketch out cubes of bright vegetables from the salad, add greens. Cut flowers, spring onions beautifully.
Serve the salad immediately after decorating.
