Grapes are a culture known since ancient times. Its fruits are especially appreciated by winemakers. But grapes are not only raw materials for alcoholic beverages, they are tasty and healthy fresh, and what wonderful preparations, dishes and desserts you can cook with them!

In the season when different grape varieties are ripe, prepare compote from these wonderful berries. Depending on the selected variety, the drink will differ in taste and color, each time it will be completely different, but still the same tasty and aromatic.

Ingredients:

Grapes - 400 g

Water - 2 l

Sugar - 50 g or to taste

Step by step recipe:

1. Just three ingredients and in half an hour the grape compote will be ready. This recipe is made from Isabella grapes, it is incredibly aromatic, and the color of the drink will turn out to be rich.

2. Remove the berries from the branches and rinse them.

3. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil and add sugar. You may need more or less of it, it all depends on the variety and ripeness of the grapes.

4. After adding sugar, bring the water to a boil again and place the grapes in the saucepan.

5. Cook the compote for 5-7 minutes at a low boil, then remove the pan from the heat, cover tightly and let the drink infuse for about an hour, then strain it.

6. Serve warm or completely chilled. In the hot season, you can throw a couple of ice cubes and a few fresh grapes into a glass for a healthy refreshing drink.

7. And on cloudy autumn evenings, serve the compote warm, almost hot.

Compote with grapes can be made more interesting by adding spices such as anise, cardamom or cinnamon during cooking. Then, hot, it will become an excellent alternative to mulled wine.

After the compote has cooled, pour it into a glass dish and put it in the refrigerator, where the drink can be stored for no more than two days.
