Buying quality milk today is a real success. The fact is that this popular product is most often counterfeited. Moreover, diluting the product with water is the safest option. Experts from Rosselkhoznadzor told how producers are deceiving customers today and what can be purchased instead of milk.

What can be found in the product?

Most manufacturers most often add to the product:

  • Water. This will increase the milk volume.
  • Vegetable fats. With their help, the fat content of the final product increases. And it's good if the manufacturer uses sufficiently safe coconut oil, not rapeseed or cottonseed oil.
  • It's even worse when there are hydrogenated fats - specialists from the Ministry of Health recommend never to eat them, since they contain dangerous trans-isomers of fatty acids.
  • Flour, chalk, starch. These substances make the milk thicker. Moreover, such substances can be found not only in milk, but also in kefir, cottage cheese of unscrupulous manufacturers. There is no danger in these substances, but it is not pleasant to drink milk with chalk.
  • Antibiotics, phenol compounds, formaldehyde. These hazardous substances can also be found in dairy products. They are added to extend the life of goods. Therefore, you should avoid buying milk if it is stored for more than six months, and even not in the refrigerator.

And apparently, some manufacturers do just that. Therefore, it is so important to know how to check the quality of the purchased product.

How to check at home?

You can also check the quality of milk at home. And for this it is not necessary to create a laboratory at home.

The ways:

  • You need to take alcohol with milk in a 2: 1 ratio. Mix, shake for a couple of minutes, quickly pour into a saucer. If the milk is not diluted, then flakes should appear after a couple of seconds. If flakes form, but after a long period of time, there is a lot of water in the product.
  • Put some milk on your nail. If the liquid begins to spread, a precipitate is visible, it means that there are some solid impurities in the product, this happens especially often when chalk or flour is added.
The easiest way is with iodine.

It is enough to drop 1-2 drops into milk and wait a little. If, after a chemical reaction, the liquid has changed its color, then it clearly contains impurities of non-natural origin, for example, vegetable fats, starch.
