Fish stewed with carrots and onions is a favorite dish in many families. Any fish, preferably boneless sea fish, cooked in this way turns out to be very tender, juicy and incredibly tasty.
Of course, stewed fish with boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes will be tastier and best of all, but if you boil loose rice, then it will also go well with it to taste. And do not forget about homemade pickles - pickled or barrel cucumbers and tomatoes will be just perfect.
Ingredients:
Hake (pollock) - 500 g
Bulb onions - 1 pc.
Carrots - 1 pc.
Tomato sauce - 2-3 tbsp
Salt to taste
Ch.m. pepper - taste
Sugar (optional) - 1 tablespoon
Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
Flour - 3 tablespoons
Bay leaf (optional) - 2 pcs.
Preparation:
1. Prepare foods from the list. Hake or pollock must be defrosted beforehand, and vegetables must be peeled and washed under running water.
2. The fish must be cleaned of entrails and scales, washed, dried with paper towels, cut into small pieces, salt, pepper and breaded in flour.
3. Heat a small amount of vegetable oil in a frying pan, fry the breaded pieces in it until golden brown. Remove the fish from the pan.
4. If necessary, wipe off any remaining flour from the pan with a paper towel. Pour in a little more vegetable oil, put onion chopped into half rings. Cook over low heat for 3 minutes until soft, it should brown a little.
5. Then put the carrots grated on a coarse grater in a pan, cook over medium heat for another 3-4 minutes. It should also become soft.
6. Now you need to add your favorite tomato sauce - mix it with vegetables.
7. After a minute, pour in a glass of water, add a little flour (about 1 tablespoon). Put the sauce on a low heat, salt and pepper, you can add a little sugar to taste. Cook for 3 minutes, during which time the sauce will begin to thicken slightly. A very tasty sauce is obtained if you add a couple of small bay leaves to it.
8. Put the previously fried fish pieces in the sauce, cook for 15 minutes over low heat, covered. Add water if necessary.
9. After half the time, open the lid and gently turn the fish pieces over to the other side.
10. Boil potatoes in wedges and serve with them a delicious stew of fish with onions and carrots.
