Now is the gooseberry and red currant season and it's time to make berry ketchup. I do it literally 5 minutes. Very tasty for barbecue. And how beautiful this ketchup turns out, you can't take your eyes off! I recommend you try this sauce.
I have prepared for you a short video recipe (less than 2 minutes) of this sauce:
Step-by-step recipe for making sauce with a photo:
Gooseberries and my red currants and remove the extra branches. (I usually do this right away, when I pick a lot of berries and leave some for such ketchup for meat).
I put gooseberries, garlic, red currants, 1/4 teaspoon of salt into a blender, you can add another 1/2 teaspoon of sugar (or any sweetener) and grind.
I do this in chunks as my blender bowl is small. First, I chop the gooseberries and garlic.
Then add the red currant and chop it again.
In fact, berry ketchup is ready :) If you do not like it when currant seeds come across in the sauce, you can strain the sauce through a sieve and then you will have the most delicate, homogeneous mass.
But the bones do not bother me, I transfer the sauce to a plate and add black ground pepper to taste. This will make the ketchup even more flavorful.
Taste the sauce and if you do not have enough salt, spiciness, then adjust to your taste.
I decorate the sauce with fresh basil and serve it with the kebab. Bon Appetit!
Advice: you can make a sauce from one gooseberry, it also turns out delicious.
Such berry ketchup can also be made from frozen berries)))
