Greetings to all readers of my culinary channel! My name is Christina, and I am very glad to see you on my channel.
I will leave reviews about this recipe at the end of the article, read :) These are reviews from my YouTube channel.
A surprisingly easy way to harvest tomatoes for the winter. Last year I closed 20 cans, but we didn't have enough. This year I will close 30 cans. They really resemble fresh tomatoes very much, especially in appearance. I will close more this year. Such tomatoes turned out to be very good!
And now a second of humor: 😂
In the summer, women have squirrel syndrome. Household squirrel. As a consequence, there are pantries filled with pickles and preparations for the winter... 😉

So, for cooking we need:
- Just tomatoes and clear water! Everything is as promised.
I recommend reading this article to the end, so as not to miss all the subtleties of cooking and in the end in winter get really tasty tomatoes, so that they don't explode!
Let's start cooking!
Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and cut them into slices, do not need too thin. Otherwise, they will "creep away" in winter. It is better to take dense varieties of tomatoes.
I sterilized the banks in advance. I put tomatoes in them.
I pour the tomatoes with cold boiled water to the very top so that the tomatoes are covered.
Now the tomato jars need to be sterilized. I just covered the cans with lids (not tightly). I sterilize in the usual way - in a large saucepan and put a towel on the bottom.
It is very important to fill the jars with water at room temperature, not boiled (so as not to burst). I fill it up to the shoulders, as always.
I bring to a boil and sterilize the jars here's how much:
- 0.5 liters - 10 minutes.
- 1 liter - 15 minutes.
It is not necessary any longer, otherwise the tomatoes will then fall apart and will not keep their shape.
I take the cans out of the pan and tighten the lids tightly.
You do not need to wrap anything up and you do not need to turn it over either. I just leave it on the table until it cools completely. This is important!
Tomatoes keep great if you do everything right. I am not adding anything, as you may have noticed. And no, banks don't explode! Tomatoes are full of acid. Checked.
In winter, I open the jar, drain the liquid (it is suitable for soup, or when I carve vegetables, I also add it), add greens, onions and a delicious salad is ready. Photo above (scroll through the gallery). Bon Appetit!
How do you like this way of storing tomatoes for the winter?
