Fatir is a Central Asian puff pastry with onions. Fragrant and incredibly tasty pastries from almost nothing! I serve such cakes for first courses, and for tea, and just like that.
Watch the video below at 08:46 for how I make these cakes. There are also 4 more recipes from the "inexpensive and tasty" series. Look - you will like it))
I add salt, oil to the sifted flour and gradually pour in water. Kneading a tough dough. The dough should be smooth and not sticky to your hands. I put the dough in a bag and leave for 30 minutes.
At this time, I chop the onion into very thin half rings, add a little and knead it with my hands so that the onion becomes soft. Add cumin and black pepper. But this is how we love - only onions and salt.
I divide the dough into 4 parts. I roll each piece very thinly. So that it shines through. Grease the dough with vegetable oil, spread the filling and fold.
Then I turn it into a spiral. I spread it on a baking sheet and leave it to rest for another 10-15 minutes. I knead the cakes with my hands and prick them with a fork. I grease the cakes with oil on top. I preheat the oven to the maximum (I have it 250 degrees) and put the cakes to bake.
This usually takes me about 15-20 minutes. The cakes should be well browned. Take a look in your oven! You may need a little more time. I cover the finished cakes with a towel and let them cool down a little. If you like softer baked goods, you can slightly dampen the towel. But we love it when the cakes are crispy)) Help yourself!
