I don't like throwing food away. And today I will show what I do with food so that they do not end up in the trash can if we suddenly do not have time to eat them. And, of course, I'll tell you how I use them later.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to post everything I want in one article, so be sure to find all 3 parts! But in this video you can watch everything at once. I promise - it will be interesting))
Does this happen often? You cut off half of the lemon, and then you find the second one a week later somewhere on the top shelf in the refrigerator. In this form. Throw it away here... Which is what I did with this half.
Therefore, if I notice that no one is "interested" in lemon, I remove the zest from it with a grater. Then I put this zest in a small container and freeze it. Then I squeeze the juice out of the lemon. Of course, I remove the bones, and pour the juice into ice molds. We add frozen juice to tea, cocktails, sauces and marinades. And in the summer we throw ice cubes into a glass of water - this perfectly quenches thirst. But, of course, I also add juice and zest to baked goods when I need it. Very comfortably.
But it so happens that the baked goods remain. Today I have two pieces of different pies left. I cut them into small slices and put them in a plastic container. I cover the container with a lid and put it in the freezer. Then I defrost it on the shelf in the refrigerator. The taste does not change at all. This is how I freeze any muffins and yeast pastries, cakes and even cakes.
And, of course, the bread also keeps well in the freezer. You can freeze it in one piece and then reheat it in the oven at 50 ° C, but I usually cut it into thin slices and put it in a container. Here I have yeast-free bread and a regular loaf.
I freeze it and, when necessary, take it out of the container. After a few minutes, bread can already be eaten or added to cutlets, for example. Or make a dessert with sour cream. If you haven't tried it, check out a few bread recipes in this video:
You can grate the bread on a coarse grater and freeze. I also often use breadcrumbs for cutlets and casseroles. Or you can put on a baking sheet, dry in the oven and use for breading.
Very often egg yolks are used for baking, but the whites remain. I also freeze them. I just pour it into a container and send it to the freezer. After defrosting, you can use it as usual - in casseroles, baked goods or meringues. After defrosting, whites, it seems to me, beat even better. Meringue is obtained from ordinary proteins - very tasty and crunchy.
Besides meat, I also store peppers in the freezer. A lot of pepper)) Here I have a lot of fruits and berries. If there is enough space, I also store dried fruit in the freezer so that the moth won't start - apples, plums, pears, apricots...
Of course, I also have a variety of greens in my freezer.
Here are the mushrooms. They wanted to disappear, but I did not give them. There was no time to cut, however, so I froze it whole. I'll find where to add. You can stew it in soup or with potatoes.
I also store dried vegetables in the freezer. Tomatoes - I harvest them the most. I add them to many dishes. I also have dried eggplants in my freezer. They are so fragrant! With them, I cook fried potatoes, the recipe of which was also liked by many. But you can add different things to soups and sauces. And, of course, dried zucchini for winter vegetable stew.
And, of course, I freeze ready-made meals if we don't have time to eat or even make preparations for a week or two on purpose. Here, for example, is our favorite caviar made from carrots and herring. I have already shared the recipe HERE. The sandwiches with such caviar are very tasty. I usually cook a lot at once and freeze some of it, because it's delicious! Many have already tried it and will agree with me.
And this is my preparation for a biscuit - eggs, beaten with sugar. No, of course, I don’t make such preparations on purpose, I was just saving food)) I started making a birthday cake, but it didn’t work out - the boys took cinema tickets. So I quickly poured this mixture into a container and froze it.
And here there was a similar story - we were invited to visit and I managed to mold only 5 dumplings. Therefore, I froze both the dough and dumplings. Someday I will finish)) Dough for dumplings, by the way, I often freeze if left. After defrosting, it looks like it’s just cooked. I also defrost it on the shelf in the refrigerator.
